Mathias Kiss challenges the conventions of the classical tradition through the avant-garde approach of his works, which lie at the crossroads of painting, sculpture and architectural installation. His work blurs the boundaries between art and craftsmanship, in the tradition of artistic movements such as the Arts & Crafts movement and the Bauhaus school. He mastered the academic vocabulary whilst training with the Compagnons, thanks to the decorative painting skills he acquired whilst restoring historic monuments.
